In 2013 Washoku, or Japanese cooking has been to Unesco's Intangible Cultural Heritage list after French, Mexican and Mediterranean food.
Japanese food has been popular around the world long before this, and people can eat Japanese food almost in any big cities.
However in reality many of these Japanese food are not authentic and a lot of the times they are fusion food.
